Californian Stamps. invented by a Cornishman working in the Californian Gold Fields, the Californian Stamps were far more efficient than the old Cornish Stamps.  They were often driven by an oil or steam engine, and at Geevor, a "Californian Battery" once worked close to where this model now stands.
